Bridget Jones can jot down a second visit to Mississippi’s capital city in her diary next week.
Academy Award-winner Renée Zellweger will be returning to the Jackson metro area for a special screening of her latest film, “Same Kind of Different as Me,” at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19, at Malco Grandview Cinema (221 Grandview Blvd., Madison).
Last year, the cast and crew shot scenes from “Same Kind of Different as Me,” which is based on the New York Times best-selling book from authors Ron Hall and Denver Moore, at various locations around the Jackson metro area, including Central United Methodist Church on Farish Street and downtown restaurant Parlor Market.
Director Michael Carney and several other actors and executives from the film will also attend the red-carpet event, according to a press release from Visit Jackson.
Tickets for the premiere are $100 per person and can be purchased on the Community Foundation of Greater Jackson website. Proceeds from the premiere will go to local charities that work with the city’s homeless population and other disadvantaged members of the community. Audience members should wear cocktail attire.
“Same Kind of Different as Me” also stars Djimon Hounsou, Greg Kinnear, Jon Voight and Olivia Holt. The official release date is Friday, Oct. 20.
