MVSU Freshman Quarterback Betts Shows Youth for Delta Devils

 

 

Mississippi Valley State University might have found a quarterback to be the cornerstone of its massive rebuilding project. Freshman quarterback Dewayne Betts originally committed to Kansas State University in March 2016 but decommitted that December due to the number of quarterbacks on the Wildcats roster. Betts, a star at KIPP Memphis Collegiate High School in Memphis, Tenn., was known by his nickname “Baby Cam” in honor of current Carolina Panthers star quarterback Cam Newton. He put his duel-quarterback skills on display during his junior season, throwing for 1,760 yards with 26 touchdowns and just three interceptions, and ran for 380 yards and five touchdowns in 2015. Preseason Men’s and Women’s SWAC Predictions

The start of college basketball is just around the corner, and teams have already started practice across the nation. Saints Win Third Game in a Row Over Lions

The New Orleans Saints are above .500 for the first time since 2013 and scored three defensive touchdowns in a game for the first time in team history. The Saints defense forced five turnovers in a 52-38 win over the Detroit Lions. New Orleans raced out to a 45-10 lead before Detroit got its offense going and made a potential blowout in a close game. After two losses at the start of the season, the Saints are on a three-game winning streak and are at 3-2 this season. JSU Hits Rock Bottom Against Tuskegee

Jackson State University might have officially hit rock bottom as a football program. Tuskegee University, out of Division II, took the Tigers to the woodshed on Saturday, Oct. 14, in the Fifth Quarter Classic. Tuskegee opened up an early 13-0 lead in the second quarter before JSU cut the lead to 13-7 with just over four minutes before the break.
